Medical Staff Training: Which is Right For You?

Medical Staff Training: Which is Right For You?

You can set your medical practice up for success by having a properly trained staff.

Do you own a medical practice? If you do, how are you training your medical staff? There all sorts of trainings you need to consider for your employees. It is important to realize that some are more important than others. With that said, here are some of the most valuable trainings that every medical staff should employ!

Telephone

It is important that all your staff members know how to talk on the phone correctly. Whenever a prospective patient calls, the goal is for the employee who picks up to convert them into a patient for your practice. You do not want to lose opportunities on patients because your staff isn’t educated on how to speak to a caller on the phone.

Body Language

It isn’t difficult to send the wrong message to a patient. For that reason, you want to be sure to train your staff on acceptable body language. For example, whenever one of your employees is speaking to an employee, they need to be facing the patient and looking them in the eye. If they have their back turned or aren’t looking directly at the patient, it will send the message that they don’t care.

Cross-Training

You never want to put all your eggs in one basket when it comes to training your employees. You want your team members to be able to fulfill other duties whenever you are in a bind. For example, there are going to be days where people call out sick or go on vacation. Maybe your receptionist is out, and you need one of your nurses to work the front desk. By cross-training your staff, you are giving your practice flexibility that it may need at times.

Latest Technologies

It is important to continuously train your staff on the most recent technologies in your medical field. Even if you do not plan on using any of them, it is important that your team at least knows details about them on a surface level. This is because if a patient asks about the latest and greatest piece of medical equipment, you want your staff to be able to talk about it.
